The Siri Cardigan junior is a manageable project with cables. The few, but well-placed cables are combined with an easy pattern in moss stitch, which becomes beautiful and voluminous in both blow yarn and in a combination of wool and mohair. The Siri Cardigan junior has a cable in the centre of each sleeve and two cables on each front panel, while the back is worked entirely in moss stitch.

    4,5 and 6 mm [US7 and US10] circular needles (40 and 80 cm [16 and 32”]).
    4,5 mm [US7] double-pointed needles. 6 mm [US10] double-pointed needles for the smallest sizes.
    If you use the magic loop method, you do not need double-pointed needles.

    Construction note
    Work from the top down. Front edges and neck edge are worked at the end. First increases are worked for raglan and the neckline on the fronts is shaped using short rows. Then raglan increases are worked, and the body and sleeves are finished separately. The sleeves are worked in the round. A lot of things happen at the same time at the beginning of the pattern. The neckline is shaped, raglan increases are made while also setting up the various patterns. Once you’ve set up your work and the increases are in place, Siri Cardigan junior is an easy knit!

    Size guide
    The sizes (2-3) 4-5 (6-7) 8-9 (10-11) 12-13 years are designed to fit a circumference of approx. (54) 57 (62) 66 (71) 77 cm [(21.25) 22.5 (24.5) 26 (28) 30.25”]. Choose the size that fits the circumference of the child. It is easy to adjust the length on the body and sleeves, as the cardigan is knitted top down. Siri Cardigan junior is designed to have a positive ease of approx. 20-25 cm [7.75-10”]. It is a roomy cardigan that the child can wear for a long period as they grow. In the pictures Siri Cardigan junior is shown with a positive ease of approx. 22 cm [8.25”]. Find the child’s bust circumference by measuring around the chest (or the widest part of your upper body). Then look at the measurements given at the beginning of the pattern (these are the finished measurements of the cardigan). Positive ease is the difference between the personal measurement and the tee measurement.
    For example, if the child’s bust circumference is 62 cm [24.5”], a size 6-7 years would provide a positive ease of 25 cm [10”] (87 cm – 62 cm = 25 cm). [28.25” - 24” = 10”].
    *The length is measured at the center back.
