Choice of size
Mascara sweater is designed to have a positive ease of approx. 8-18 cm [3-7 inches]. It is shown here with 11 cm [4,5 inches] of positive ease. Find your chest circumference by measuring around the widest part of your upper body. Then look at the measurements for the sweater above in the pattern. The positive ease is the difference between your measurements and the final sweater measurements. If your chest circumference is 94 cm [37,5], then making a size S/M will give you 11 cm [4 inches] of positive ease.
(105 cm – 94 cm = 11 cm). [41,5 - 37,5 = 4 inches].
The length is measured at the centre back, including the neckband.
Construction
The sweater is worked from the bottom up. First, the body is worked in the round on a circular needle until the start of the armhole. Then the front and back sections are worked flat one at a time. The angled shoulders are shaped using short rows at the top of the front and back sections, which are castoff using a 3 needle bind-off. Stitches are picked up for the neckband along the neck opening and the neckband is worked in rib. The sleeves are also worked from the bottom up, At the top of the sleeve, a 3 needle bind-off is used to seam the sleeves to the body.
