Construction
Foundation Cardigan is worked top down with shorts rows to shape the neckline. Raglsn increases are worked simultaneously. When all the increases have been worked, the sleeves rest while the back and front pieces are worked back and forth. Then the sleeves are worked in the round. Front and neck egdes are worked after and then buttons are attached.
Size guide
Foundation Cardigan is designed with approx. 12-20 cm [4.75-8”] of positive ease, allowing you to choose how loose or fitted you’d like it to be. In the photo, Foundation Cardigan in bouclé is shown with a positive ease of approx. 16 cm [6.25"]. Foundation Cardigan in grey wool is shown with a positive ease of approx. 24 cm [9.5"].
Find your personal bust circumference by measuring around your chest (or the largest part of your upper body). Then, compare this measurement to the finished garment measurements listed at the beginning of the pattern. Positive ease is the difference between your body measurement and the measurements of the cardigan.
For example, if your bust circumference is 94 cm [37”], a size M will give you a positive ease of 13 cm [5”] (107 cm – 94 cm = 13 cm) [42” - 37” = 5”]. A size L will give you a positive ease of 20 cm [8”] (114 cm – 94 cm = 20 cm) [45” - 37” = 8”].
